Rehire?

Question. If your company fired someone for being drunk on the job (for months!!) would you rehire him? That's what my boss is pushing for.

Let me clarify just a little. He was fired for drinking while at work, he started sleeping at his desk, he had multiple unexplained absences, and finally when he didn't show up for 2 days (without calling) his Dad came in to pick up his stuff.

He's over 40 years old!

Would you hire him back?

Several Responsises:

1. Sure, everyone loves Happy Hour and he always brought the good stuff.

2. WTF?

3. Mention OSHA to her, and that you would not feel comfortable working with some that drunk. Dance with? Of course, but not work with.

4. Just say "Hell's no"

5. Remind her how she had to do all of his work.

6. Just start drinking and taking booze to work. Evidently that is the way to climb the latter at place of business.

Questions:

1. was he good at his job? Is his job hard or expensive to train someone else to do?

2. did he get help for his drinking problem? is he in a program? does he openly admit he had a problem and is getting help for it?

If all of those can be answered with a yes, then I'm all for second chances.

aw, dammit, was that answer too serious? I should have said something funny.

Molls- I guess #6 is true. And for the record he never shared his booze. Bastard!

Ronda- He talked big, but we (the people who do the work) never saw any evidence that he did anything. And I have no idea if he has gotten help because he never spoke to any of us until my boss called his Dad to see if he was looking for work.

I need a new job!

Once again I am speechless! I think this just proves EVEN MORE how crazy your boss is. I can't believe she called the dad!!! Oh I just figured it out!! She LIKES HIM!!! She wants to get it on! Or maybe she was until he disappeared...but that is probably why he left! You need to drop some hints ASAP regarding his looks and see if the bites!

I've decided that if they hire him back, I'm going to get some materials from my friend who works at MADD and decorate my office. I'm all about they silent protest.

Addiction is a personal matter. If he's in a recovery program, the company may have certain laws they have to follow. Who knows!

BTW, I think the video feed doesn't load if you are behind a firewall, which I bet you are at work. Try again at home and/or go to bravotv.com and click on the video that says NJ housewives.

It doesn't have to be photos of you per se - just photos you'd like to BECOME...like a fairytale...only you make it come true!

As for JACK....that was a little anti-climatic for me. How about you? The most touching moment was when the Iman came to pray with him. Nice touch.

Yes...well, no. But if I were a co-worker I would so enjoy the talk at the water cooler.
